BIOGRAPHY :
Lila El Mahouti is a film professional and cultural programmer. She studied at Paris 8 University, where she developed her academic and professional interests in cinema and cultural mediation. Her career is particularly connected to the promotion of cinema from the Maghreb and the Middle East.
She joined the team of the Panorama of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinemas (PCMMO), where she contributed to the festival’s development through programming and artistic activities. Before becoming Artistic Director, she worked as an assistant to the Artistic Director and within the festival’s film office.
In 2025, Lila El Mahouti was appointed Artistic Director of the PCMMO, following the passing of Emma Raguin. In this role, she oversees the festival’s artistic direction and continues its work of highlighting emerging filmmakers and the cinematic heritage of the Maghreb and the Middle East.
Through her programming work, she focuses on contemporary filmmaking, emerging voices and new forms of storytelling from the Maghreb and the Middle East. She also contributes to making the PCMMO a space for dialogue and exchange between filmmakers, film professionals and audiences.
In 2026, she serves as Artistic Director and Programmer of the 21st edition of the PCMMO, held from March 25 to April 12, 2026. The festival continues to promote cinema and intercultural dialogue through screenings, meetings and collaborations with cultural institutions.
Lila El Mahouti also takes part in discussions and cultural initiatives focusing on Maghreb and Middle Eastern cinema, particularly issues related to film heritage, transmission and the circulation of films.

Lila El Mahouti est une professionnelle du cinéma et de la programmation culturelle. Formée à l’Université Paris 8, elle s’est spécialisée dans le domaine du cinéma et de la médiation culturelle. Son parcours est notamment lié à la valorisation des cinématographies du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient.
Elle rejoint l’équipe du Panorama des cinémas du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient (PCMMO) et participe à son développement à travers des activités liées à la programmation et à la direction artistique. Avant sa nomination à la direction artistique, elle travaillait notamment comme assistante à la direction artistique et au bureau des films du festival.
En 2025, Lila El Mahouti est nommée directrice artistique du PCMMO, à la suite de la disparition d’Emma Raguin. Elle prend ainsi en charge la direction artistique du festival et poursuit son travail de mise en valeur des talents émergents ainsi que des patrimoines cinématographiques du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient.
Dans son travail de programmation, elle accorde une attention particulière aux nouvelles écritures cinématographiques, aux découvertes récentes et aux différentes formes de narration venues du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient. Elle contribue également à faire du PCMMO un espace de rencontre entre les cinéastes, les professionnels et les publics.
En 2026, elle assure la direction artistique et la programmation de la 21e édition du PCMMO, organisée du 25 mars au 12 avril 2026. Cette édition poursuit le travail du festival autour du cinéma et du dialogue interculturel, avec des projections, des rencontres et des collaborations avec différentes institutions culturelles.
Lila El Mahouti participe également à des rencontres et échanges autour du cinéma maghrébin et moyen-oriental, notamment sur les questions de transmission, de patrimoine cinématographique et de circulation des œuvres.

ليلى المحوطي هي مهنية في مجال السينما والبرمجة الثقافية. درست بجامعة باريس 8، حيث طوّرت اهتمامها الأكاديمي والمهني بمجال السينما والوساطة الثقافية. ويرتبط مسارها بشكل خاص بالتعريف بالسينما المغاربية وسينما الشرق الأوسط ودعمها.
انضمت إلى فريق بانوراما سينمات المغرب العربي والشرق الأوسط (PCMMO)، حيث ساهمت في تطوير المهرجان من خلال العمل في مجال البرمجة والأنشطة الفنية. وقبل توليها منصب المديرة الفنية، عملت كمساعدة للمديرة الفنية وضمن مكتب الأفلام بالمهرجان.
في عام 2025، عُيّنت ليلى المحوطي مديرة فنية لمهرجان PCMMO، خلفاً لإيما راغان. ومن خلال هذا المنصب، تشرف على التوجه الفني للمهرجان وتواصل العمل على تسليط الضوء على المواهب السينمائية الصاعدة وعلى التراث السينمائي للمغرب العربي والشرق الأوسط.
تركز في عملها في مجال البرمجة على السينما المعاصرة، والأصوات السينمائية الجديدة، وأشكال السرد المختلفة القادمة من بلدان المغرب العربي والشرق الأوسط. كما تساهم في جعل المهرجان فضاءً للحوار والتبادل بين المخرجين والمهنيين في مجال السينما والجمهور.
في عام 2026، تولت الإدارة الفنية وبرمجة الدورة الحادية والعشرين من PCMMO، التي نُظمت من 25 مارس إلى 12 أبريل 2026. وتواصل هذه الدورة تعزيز دور السينما في الحوار بين الثقافات، من خلال عروض الأفلام واللقاءات والشراكات مع عدد من المؤسسات الثقافية.
كما تشارك ليلى المحوطي في لقاءات ومبادرات ثقافية تهتم بالسينما المغاربية وسينما الشرق الأوسط، ولا سيما القضايا المرتبطة بالتراث السينمائي، ونقل المعرفة، وتداول الأفلام ووصولها إلى الجمهور.
