🇬🇧 Biography
Azza Elhosseiny is an Egyptian filmmaker, director, and co-founder of the Luxor African Film Festival. She has served as a jury member at numerous African and Arab film festivals. Currently, she is completing her first feature-length documentary, The Magic of Burollus Lake, and is developing her first narrative feature, Fifteen Days.
Azza holds a degree in Business Administration from Cairo University (1988) and a degree from the High Institute of Cinema, Academy of Art. She began her career in 1991 as an actress and assistant editor before focusing on directing. She has directed several short and medium-length documentaries for Egyptian television.
Since the 2000s, Azza has been active in the independent cultural movement in theater and cinema, collaborating with NGOs and cultural spaces. In 2011, she co-founded the Independent Shabab Foundation with screenwriter Sayed Fouad. She directed the Independent Art Season for nine years and contributed to initiatives like the Independent Cultural Coalition and ElfannMidan celebration. She also founded Nawafez for cinema clubs in Egypt.
As executive director and co-founder of the Luxor African Film Festival over the past 14 years, Azza launched the Etisal Film Fund in 2014 to support young African talent.

Azza Elhosseiny est une réalisatrice égyptienne et cofondatrice du Festival du Film Africain de Louxor. Elle a été membre de jurys dans de nombreux festivals de cinéma africains et arabes. Actuellement, elle termine son premier long métrage documentaire, The Magic of Burollus Lake, et travaille sur son premier long métrage de fiction, Fifteen Days.
Azza est diplômée en Administration des Affaires de l’Université du Caire (1988) et de l’Institut Supérieur du Cinéma, Académie des Arts. Elle a débuté sa carrière en 1991 comme actrice et assistante monteur avant de se consacrer à la réalisation. Elle a dirigé plusieurs courts et moyens métrages documentaires pour la télévision égyptienne.
Depuis les années 2000, Azza est active dans le mouvement culturel indépendant au théâtre et au cinéma, collaborant avec des ONG et des espaces culturels. En 2011, elle co-fonde l’Independent Shabab Foundation avec le scénariste Sayed Fouad. Elle a dirigé la Saison de l’Art Indépendant pendant neuf ans et participé à des initiatives telles que la Coalition Culturelle Indépendante et la célébration ElfannMidan. Elle a également fondé Nawafez pour les ciné-clubs en Égypte.
En tant que directrice exécutive et cofondatrice du Festival du Film Africain de Louxor depuis 14 ans, Azza a créé le Etisal Film Fund en 2014 pour soutenir les jeunes talents africains.

عزة الحسيني هي مخرجة سينمائية مصرية ومؤسسة مشاركة لمهرجان الأقصر للسينما الإفريقية. شاركت كعضو لجنة تحكيم في العديد من المهرجانات السينمائية الإفريقية والعربية. حالياً، تنتهي من أول فيلم وثائقي طويل لها بعنوان سحر بحيرة بورولوس، وتعمل على أول فيلم روائي طويل بعنوان خمسة عشر يوماً.
حصلت عزة على شهادة في إدارة الأعمال من جامعة القاهرة عام 1988، وشهادة من المعهد العالي للسينما، أكاديمية الفنون. بدأت مسيرتها المهنية في عام 1991 كممثلة ومساعدة مونتاج قبل أن تتفرغ للإخراج. أخرجت العديد من الأفلام القصيرة والمتوسطة للطول للتلفزيون المصري.
منذ عام 2000، نشطت عزة في حركة الثقافة المستقلة في المسرح والسينما، بالتعاون مع المنظمات غير الحكومية والمساحات الثقافية. في 2011، أسست مع الكاتب السينمائي سيد فؤاد مؤسسة Independent Shabab Foundation. كما أخرجت موسم الفن المستقل لمدة تسع سنوات وساهمت في مبادرات مثل التحالف الثقافي المستقل واحتفالية الفن ميدان، وأسست Nawafez لأندية السينما في مصر.
كمديرة تنفيذية ومؤسسة مشاركة لمهرجان الأقصر للسينما الإفريقية على مدار 14 عاماً، أطلقت عزة صندوق Etisal السينمائي في 2014 لدعم إنتاج المواهب الإفريقية الشابة.
