Synopsis:
Everything Is Right Before captures a moment poised on the edge of beginning. An actor prepares for a shoot as the crew waits. Yet instead of moving forward, the actor becomes paralyzed by an infinite web of choices. The film reveals a bodily state where preparation turns into an endless expanse of time, exposing the complexity of life’s paths and the fine line between body and mind. With tragicomic sensitivity, it explores the boundaries of existence, confronting the unpredictable and unknown. Standing at the threshold of being, the film questions the artist’s freedom in contrast to the waiting crew. Who, after all, is truly free?
Directors’ Biographies
Anna Antsalo is a film director and cinematographer based in Helsinki, Finland. She studied film at Lahti University of Applied Sciences / Institute of Design and Fine Arts (2004–2008).
She has worked in theatre as a set designer and video artist, creating visual projections for musicians. Her debut documentary Momentum (2015), produced by Tuffi Films, won an award at the Helsinki Short Film Festival.
In 2016, she attended the UnionDocs Summer Documentary Intensive with Walk the Tideline, her first feature documentary, produced by Venla Hellstedt and Juha Löppönen (Tuffi Films). The film opened DocPoint 2021 and premiered internationally at CPH:DOX 2021. It was nominated for Best Documentary and Best Music at the Jussi Awards.
Anna also works as a cinematographer. Her latest work, Neurotypes (directed by Maija Hirvonen, produced by Mouka Films), opened DocPoint 2024. Her artistic focus explores the human relationship with nature, often balancing playfully between chaos and discipline.
Jenni-Elina von Bagh is a choreographer, performer, and curator based in Helsinki. Her work is driven by philosophical questions and the expressivity of the human body as a compositional element. She integrates body, text, and voice into performative structures exploring the non-human paradigm.
Over several decades, she has performed internationally with choreographers such as Kenneth Kvarnström, Deborah Hay, Örjan Andersson, Josef Fruček, Linda Kapetanea, Ina Christel Johannessen, Helena Franzén, and Jyrki Karttunen.
She was a company member of the Helsinki City Dance Company (2006–2015) and holds an MA in Choreography from the Theatre Academy of Uniarts Helsinki (2018). Since February 2023, she has been the Artistic Director of Zodiak – Center for New Dance in Helsinki.

Everything Is Right Before saisit un instant suspendu, juste avant le commencement. Un acteur se prépare pour le tournage tandis que l’équipe attend. Mais au lieu d’avancer, l’acteur se fige, submergé par une infinité de choix possibles. Le film explore un état corporel où la préparation devient un temps sans fin, révélant la complexité des chemins de la vie et les entrelacs du corps et de l’esprit. Avec une touche tragicomique, il interroge les limites de notre existence, face à l’inconnu et à l’imprévisible. À la frontière de l’être, le film questionne la liberté de l’artiste face à l’attente immobile de l’équipe. Qui est, en vérité, libre ?
Biographies des réalisatrices
Anna Antsalo est réalisatrice et directrice de la photographie, basée à Helsinki. Elle a étudié le cinéma à l’Université des sciences appliquées de Lahti (2004–2008).
Elle a travaillé dans le théâtre comme scénographe et vidéaste, et a créé des projections visuelles pour des musiciens. Son premier documentaire Momentum (2015), produit par Tuffi Films, a été primé au Helsinki Short Film Festival.
En 2016, elle participe au programme UnionDocs Documentary Intensive avec Walk the Tideline, son premier long métrage documentaire (Tuffi Films), film d’ouverture de DocPoint 2021 et présenté en première internationale à CPH:DOX la même année. Il fut nommé pour le Meilleur documentaire et la Meilleure musique aux Jussi Awards.

Jenni-Elina von Bagh est chorégraphe, performeuse et curatrice basée à Helsinki. Elle intègre le corps, le texte et la voix dans un jeu scénique expérimental tourné vers le paradigme du non-humain.
Elle a collaboré internationalement avec de nombreux chorégraphes, dont Kenneth Kvarnström, Deborah Hay, Örjan Andersson, Josef Fruček, Linda Kapetanea, Ina Christel Johannessen, Helena Franzén et Jyrki Karttunen.

السيرة الذاتية للمخرجتين
آنا أنتسالو مخرجة ومصوّرة سينمائية من هلسنكي، فنلندا. درست السينما في جامعة لاهتي للعلوم التطبيقية (2004–2008). عملت في المسرح كمصممة ديكور وفنانة فيديو، وشاركت في تنفيذ عروض بصرية موسيقية. فيلمها الوثائقي الأول Momentum (عام 2015، من إنتاج Tuffi Films) فاز بجائزة في مهرجان هلسنكي للأفلام القصيرة
