SYNOPSIS :

Valentine and Jean-Claude form a new couple at the start of the 1994 genocide and civil war in Rwanda. They make repeated attempts to flee the killings with their newborn son.

Director Biography – Justice Rutikara

Born in Kigali and raised in Quebec City, Justice Rutikara developed a passion for storytelling, visual arts and performance at an early age. Actor turned writer-director, he is committed to promoting a fairer and richer representation of Afro-Quebec and Rwandan identities in the film and television industry. As a filmmaker, his short and medium-length fiction and documentary films have been broadcast on several public platforms and have won numerous awards, including a nomination for Best Director of the Year at the Gala Dynastie 2020 and the Prix Gémeaux de la relève in 2021. « Ibuka, Justice » marks his first animated film, adding a new dimension to his committed and innovative work.

Biographie du réalisateur – Justice Rutikara

Né à Kigali et élevé à Québec, Justice Rutikara développe très tôt une passion pour le récit, les arts visuels et la performance. Acteur devenu scénariste-réalisateur, il s’engage à promouvoir une représentation plus juste et enrichie des identités afro-québécoises et rwandaises dans le cinéma et la télévision.
En tant que cinéaste, ses courts et moyens métrages de fiction et documentaires ont été diffusés sur plusieurs plateformes publiques et ont remporté de nombreux prix, dont une nomination pour le Prix du Meilleur Réalisateur de l’année au Gala Dynastie 2020 et le Prix Gémeaux de la relève en 2021. Ibuka, Justice marque son premier film d’animation, apportant une nouvelle dimension à son travail engagé et innovant.
