SYNOPSIS :
Mounira sells fricassés in a used car market. She maintains an ambiguous relationship with two men in order to elevate her life and escape her harsh daily reality.
Director Biography – Sahar EL ECHI
Sahar El Echi (b. 1992) lives and works in Tunisia. She is a visual artist and filmmaker.
A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Tunisia, she also holds an MA in visual design with distinction.
Sahar has directed several independent short films, including Mutation, Manwella, In-Between. She has participated in numerous art residencies, such as Atelier de l’Observatoire in Morocco and Fondation Fiminco in Romainville.
Most recently, she completed her film Bord à Bord (2024).
Her work explores themes of gender dynamics within male-dominated societies, and the intersections of politics, gender, memory, space, and history.
Through film, photography, and writing, she delves into the concepts of territory and fragile spaces, examining the complex relationship between individuals and their environment.
She has been selected for several prestigious programs, including Documentary Film Methods at the Danish Film School in Copenhagen, Durban Talents, and the Locarno Industry Academy. She is also a recipient of the CAORC/Andrew Mellon Art History Fellowship (2020, 2022) and a Prince Claus Seed Award laureate.

Biographie de la réalisatrice :
Sahar El Echi (née en 1992) vit et travaille en Tunisie. Artiste visuelle et réalisatrice, elle est diplômée de l’École des Beaux-Arts de Tunisie et détient également un master en design visuel avec distinction.
Elle a réalisé plusieurs courts métrages indépendants, dont Mutation, Manwella, In-Between, et plus récemment Bord à Bord (2024).
Son travail explore les dynamiques de genre dans des sociétés dominées par les hommes et les intersections entre politique, genre, mémoire, espace et histoire. À travers le cinéma, la photographie et l’écriture, elle étudie les concepts de territoire et d’espaces fragiles, examinant la relation complexe entre les individus et leur environnement.
Sahar a été sélectionnée pour plusieurs programmes prestigieux, tels que Documentary Film Methods à l’École de Cinéma Danoise de Copenhague, Durban Talents, et Locarno Industry Academy. سحر الإشي (ولدت عام 1992) تعيش وتعمل في تونس. هي فنانة بصرية ومخرجة أفلام، حاصلة على شهادة من المدرسة العليا للفنون الجميلة بتونس وماجستير في التصميم البصري بتقدير ممتاز.
قدمت عدة أفلام قصيرة مستقلة منها Mutation، Manwella، In-Between، وأخيرًا Bord à Bord (2024)
