SYNOPSIS :
With the sea and the urban Algarve as a background, we follow a complete cycle of the life of a special shellfish called PERCEBES, goose barnacle. From their formation, to the dish, in this journey, we cross different contexts that allow us to better understand this region and those who live there.
Director Biography – Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves
After graduating from the Fine Arts University of Lisbon, Alexandra and Laura begin working in animation film in 2009.
Since then, their paths have always been intertwined. They’ve been part of the technical teams on various films, directed together and separately, and recently started producing.
They both believe in the power of collaboration. They are 2 of the 6 founding members of BAP- Animation Studio, a Cooperative of animation authors, which since 2013 has been their nest for developing and making films, along side other internationally recognised authors.
Together they made the films Água Mole (2017) and Percebes ( 2024). Individually: Alexandra directed Elo (2020) and Laura directed Three Weeks in December (2012) and The Garbage Man (2022). These are films with a strong festival path as well as national and international recognition.

Avec la mer et l’Algarve urbain comme toile de fond, nous suivons le cycle complet de vie d’un coquillage spécial appelé PERCEBES (pouce-pied). De leur formation jusqu’au plat final, ce voyage traverse différents contextes qui permettent de mieux comprendre cette région et ses habitants.

Après avoir obtenu leur diplôme à l’Université des Beaux-Arts de Lisbonne, Alexandra et Laura commencent à travailler dans le cinéma d’animation en 2009. Depuis, leurs parcours sont toujours étroitement liés. Elles ont fait partie des équipes techniques de divers films, ont réalisé ensemble et séparément, et se sont récemment lancées dans la production.
Elles croient toutes deux au pouvoir de la collaboration. Elles sont deux des six membres fondateurs du BAP-Animation Studio, une coopérative d’auteurs d’animation qui, depuis 2013, est leur base pour développer et réaliser des films aux côtés d’autres auteurs reconnus internationalement.
Ensemble, elles ont réalisé les films Água Mole (2017) et Percebes (2024). Individuellement : Alexandra a réalisé Elo (2020) et Laura a réalisé Three Weeks in December (2012) et The Garbage Man (2022). Ces films ont connu un fort parcours en festivals et une reconnaissance nationale et internationale.

بعد تخرجهما من جامعة الفنون الجميلة في لشبونة، بدأت ألكساندرا ولورا العمل في مجال أفلام الرسوم المتحركة في 2009. منذ ذلك الحين، كانت مساراتهما متشابكة دائمًا. شاركتا في الفرق التقنية لأفلام متنوعة، وأخرجتا معًا ومنفصلتين، وبدأتا مؤخرًا في الإنتاج
