Synopsis :

Fanny lives with her father, Hubert, a university professor obsessed with his research who never recovered from the death of his wife twelve years ago. Everything changes the day a family secret resurfaces. Fanny then embarks on a frantic quest to uncover the truth surrounding her mother’s death. How far will she be willing to go to understand what really happened?

YAN ENGLAND is an Oscar-nominated director and three-time Gemini and

three-time Artis Award-winning actor in Canada.

In 2007, England’s first live action short film, which he wrote, directed,

produced and distributed, “MOI” received worldwide recognition, winning

over fifteen international awards, such as the Bruce C. Corwin Award for best

live-action short film. These distinguished awards gave “Moi” the privilege of

being eligible for the 2007 live-action short film Academy Awards.

In 2013, once again, he assumed the multiple mantles of writer, director,

producer, and distributor, for “HENRY.”

While garnering numerous critical kudos, such as the “Best Short – First

Place” at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, “Henry” was

distinguished with the most significant acknowledgement a filmmaker could

receive, an Academy Award nomination in the best live-action short film

category.

Following his Oscar nomination, Yan England went on to write and direct

“1:54”, a psychological thriller that emotionally moved audiences and

families around the world. The iconic French actress Isabelle Adjani said,

“1:54” is a film with a beautiful and painful importance.” Paris Match added:

“This necessary film should be screened to all high schools and colleges.”

Receiving a dozen worldwide awards, 1:54 had the unique honor of being

screened at the United Nation’s Headquarters in New York followed by a

discussion with dignitaries about bullying.

In 2019-2020, Yan England was the director for the last two seasons of “LES

PAYS D’EN HAUT” (True North) a western/drama miniseries set in 1888. He

directed all the episodes of both seasons and was nominated for Best Director at the Gemini

Awards.

In 2022, Yan continued his journey, directing all 10 episodes of “LES BRACELETS ROUGES”

(RedBand Society). He received various distinctions for it as well.

During that time Yan England met with Andre Gulluni. The pair creatively connected and decided

to cowrite “SAM”, Yan’s 2nd feature film shot in 2020. The film received the

“Audience Award” at the Iris Cinema Gala.

The duo reunited for “REMATCH” a 6-episode miniseries developed with

European producer Bruno Nahon. Yan England was the “showrunner,”

directing all six episodes. Rematch won the Grand Jury Award in the

International competition at the Series Mania TV Festival in Europe.

Rematch was released in the fall (2024) on HBO Europe, Disney + and Arte.

In 2024, Yan directed the feature film “FANNY” written by Stephanie

Lapointe and produced by Annie Blais (Telefiction). The film is set to be released in 2025.

Yan England is driven by his passion for telling stories in film and TV all around the world. He is

bilingual in both English and French and some Italian.
