An intimate chronicle of the war that devastated South Lebanon, leaving behind scorched land and a wounded community struggling to rebuild and find a semblance of peace.
Director Biography – Abbas Fahdel
Born in Babylon (Iraq), Abbas Fahdel is a Franco-Iraqi filmmaker and writer. He holds a PhD in cinema from the Sorbonne and has devoted himself to filmmaking since 2002, creating works that blend fiction and documentary. He has shot three documentaries in Iraq, including Homeland: Iraq Year Zero (2015), which received awards at over twenty international festivals.
Based in Lebanon since 2017, he has directed four feature films there: Yara (fiction, 2018), selected for the international competition at the Locarno Film Festival; Bitter Bread (documentary, 2019), which had its world premiere at the New York Film Festival; Tales of the Purple House (documentary, 2022), selected for the international competition in Locarno; and Tales of the Wounded Land (documentary, 2025), also selected for the international competition in Locarno.
He also directed the fiction feature Dawn of the World (2008) in Egypt, and published his first novel, Ce que le temps fait à la pierre, released in France in 2024.

Biographie du réalisateur :
Né à Babylone (Irak), Abbas Fahdel est un cinéaste et écrivain franco-irakien. Titulaire d’un doctorat en cinéma de la Sorbonne, il se consacre au cinéma depuis 2002, créant des œuvres mêlant fiction et documentaire. وُلد عباس فاضل في بابل (العراق)، وهو مخرج وكاتب فرنسي-عراقي. حاصل على دكتوراه في السينما من جامعة السوربون، وقد كرس نفسه لصناعة الأفلام منذ عام 2002، حيث ابتكر أعمالًا تمزج بين الخيال والوثائقي. أخرج ثلاثة أفلام وثائقية في العراق، بما في ذلك الوطن: العراق سنة صفر (2015)، الذي فاز بجوائز في أكثر من عشرين مهرجانًا دوليًا
