SYNOPSIS :
As they do every year, the El Badiri family (MRE) are preparing to spend their two-month summer holiday in their home town of Marrakech. This year, the daughters of the family are refusing to go, leaving their mother in the lurch.
Director Biography – MALIKA ZAIRI
After many years working in the field in the medical, social and educational sector, Malika ZAIRI decided to make a career change to the film industry in 2013, convinced that images are a powerful tool for promoting social issues through and by means of images.
At the age of 40, initially self-taught, Malika ZAIRI wrote, directed, produced and post-produced several short films with a social theme, which she distributed herself at festivals on five continents. Very quickly, two of these short films were selected for numerous festivals around the world, to which she was invited to present and discuss them with the public. She then discovered the film festival environment and was soon asked to hold film workshops and join international festival juries, some of which she chaired.
To make her transition to the film industry a reality, Malika ZAIRI became a professional and took a number of film courses in writing, directing and acting.
She also discovered the writing residencies to which she applied for her first feature film project, Hayat(i). She was quickly spotted and selected by the Méditalent scheme. She then joined three Méditalent residencies in Tangiers, Marseille and Paris, and has been pursuing her project ever since.
With her dual social and cinematographic expertise, and having spent 3 years immersed in the international festival environment, Malika took advantage of the health crisis in 2020 to create the International Children Care Film Festival, the world’s first film festival on child and youth protection, held in Paris and now in its 3rd year.
A holiday story is his 4th short fiction film, made in July 2024.

Comme chaque année, la famille El Badiri (MRE) se prépare à passer ses deux mois de vacances d’été dans leur ville natale, Marrakech. Cette année, les filles de la famille refusent de partir, laissant leur mère dans l’embarras.

Après de nombreuses années dans les secteurs médical, social et éducatif, Malika Zairi décide en 2013 de changer de carrière pour l’industrie cinématographique, convaincue que l’image est un outil puissant pour promouvoir des enjeux sociaux.
À 40 ans, autodidacte au départ, Malika Zairi écrit, réalise, produit et post-produit plusieurs courts-métrages à thème social, qu’elle distribue elle-même dans des festivals sur cinq continents. Très rapidement, deux de ces courts-métrages sont sélectionnés dans de nombreux festivals internationaux, où elle est invitée à les présenter et à en discuter avec le public. C’est ainsi qu’elle découvre l’univers des festivals de cinéma et commence à animer des ateliers et à siéger dans des jurys internationaux, dont certains qu’elle préside.
Pour concrétiser sa transition dans le cinéma, Malika Zairi suit plusieurs formations professionnelles en écriture, réalisation et jeu d’acteur.
Elle découvre ensuite les résidences d’écriture, auxquelles elle postule pour son premier projet de long-métrage, Hayat(i). Repérée rapidement, elle est sélectionnée par le programme Méditalent et participe à trois résidences à Tanger, Marseille et Paris, poursuivant son projet depuis.
Grâce à son expertise sociale et cinématographique, et après trois ans passés dans l’environnement des festivals internationaux, Malika profite de la crise sanitaire de 2020 pour créer l’International Children Care Film Festival, le premier festival mondial sur la protection de l’enfance et de la jeunesse, organisé à Paris et maintenant à sa 3e édition.
A Holiday’s Story est son 4ᵉ court-métrage de fiction, réalisé en juillet 2024.

السيرة الذاتية للمخرجة (العربية)
بعد سنوات عديدة في المجال الطبي والاجتماعي والتعليمي، قررت مليكة زيري في 2013 تغيير مسارها المهني إلى صناعة السينما، مقتنعة بأن الصورة أداة قوية لتعزيز القضايا الاجتماعية
في سن الأربعين، وبدأت بشكل ذاتي، كتبت مليكة زيري وأخرجت وأنتجت وعملت على ما بعد إنتاج عدة أفلام قصيرة ذات طابع اجتماعي، وقامت بتوزيعها بنفسها في مهرجانات على خمس قارات. سرعان ما تم اختيار اثنين من هذه الأفلام القصيرة في العديد من المهرجانات العالمية، حيث دُعيت لتقديمها ومناقشتها مع الجمهور. وهكذا اكتشفت عالم مهرجانات السينما وبدأت في تنظيم ورش عمل والانضمام إلى لجان تحكيم دولية، بعض منها ترأسته
لتجسيد انتقالها إلى السينما، التحقت مليكة زيري بعدة دورات تدريبية في الكتابة والإخراج والتمثيل
كما اكتشفت برامج الإقامة للكتابة، وتقدمت بها لأول مشروع فيلم طويل لها، Hayat(i). تم رصدها بسرعة وتم اختيارها ضمن برنامج Méditalent، وشاركت في ثلاث إقامات في طنجة ومرسيليا وباريس، وتواصل العمل على مشروعها منذ ذلك الحين
بفضل خبرتها الاجتماعية والسينمائية، وبعد ثلاث سنوات قضتها في بيئة المهرجانات الدولية، استغلت مليكة أزمة الصحة في 2020 لإنشاء مهرجان « International Children Care Film Festival »، وهو أول مهرجان عالمي يركز على حماية الأطفال والشباب، ويقام في باريس والآن في دورته الثالثة
