SYNOPSIS :
In a desert, a child follows unknown footprints. He then becomes a witness to scenes intertwined with human lives. Each character takes off their shoes and climbs a stone staircase, until the child reaches the end of the path… only to discover that his footprint was there before he arrived.
Director Biography – Sefyane Salamat
Sefyane Salamat is a Moroccan filmmaker and graduate of ISMAC (Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel et du Cinéma), where he shaped his artistic identity by exploring a poetic and socially engaged form of cinema deeply rooted in the cultural realities of his country. Passionate about visual storytelling, he quickly developed an approach where every frame becomes a fragment of memory and every film, a search for meaning.
His first major work, Soul Balance (ميزان الروح), is an intimate documentary exploring the relationship between his grandmother and an old friend, enriched with dialogues in Amazigh and marked by a rare sensitivity. Screened at several festivals, it won multiple awards and distinctions, confirming his talent for capturing emotion in its purest form.
In 2025, he directed Afalass, a new project that reflects his artistic maturity and his commitment to a metaphorical and spiritual form of cinema. This work continues his visual and narrative exploration, balancing tradition and modernity, and solidifying his place among the emerging Moroccan filmmakers to watch.
Sefyane has also contributed as director of photography and artistic collaborator to several acclaimed projects, including Oh Sons of Adam, My Friend Seddik, and A Day or Part of a Day. These collaborations, celebrated in various festivals, have broadened his creative scope and refined his visual language, always in service of stories with depth and meaning.

Synopsis :
Dans un désert, un enfant suit des empreintes inconnues. Il devient alors témoin de scènes entremêlées aux vies humaines. Chaque personnage enlève ses chaussures et gravit un escalier de pierre, jusqu’à ce que l’enfant atteigne la fin du chemin… pour découvrir que son empreinte était là avant même son arrivée.

Sefyane Salamat est un cinéaste marocain, diplômé de l’ISMAC (Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel et du Cinéma), où il a forgé son identité artistique en explorant une forme de cinéma poétique et socialement engagée, profondément ancrée dans les réalités culturelles de son pays.
Passionné par la narration visuelle, il a développé une approche où chaque plan devient un fragment de mémoire et chaque film, une quête de sens.
Son premier grand travail, Soul Balance (ميزان الروح), est un documentaire intime explorant la relation entre sa grand-mère et une vieille amie, enrichi de dialogues en amazigh et marqué par une rare sensibilité. Présenté dans plusieurs festivals, il a remporté de nombreux prix, confirmant son talent pour capter l’émotion à l’état pur.
En 2025, il réalise Afalass, un nouveau projet qui reflète sa maturité artistique et son engagement envers un cinéma métaphorique et spirituel.
