SYNOPSIS :
FATINE, a young girl of 17, lives with her mother, NADIA – who is a chikha(1)¬ – in Azemmour, Morrocco. She has just passed her baccalaureate exams and she’s torn between two opposing paths: either committing to the family’s artistic tradition, or a more risk-averse life with her boyfriend, who scorn her heritage.
ZAHOUA RAJI
Born in Brussels in 1980 to Moroccan immigrant parents, she grew up in a large family. She attended Catholic schools and received a very strict education. To distinguish herself and find her place in this environment, Zahoua took refuge behind a camera. She joined the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 2000. She honed her eye and developed her style. For 5 years, she worked as a chief makeup artist and costume designer on Moroccan television series, feature films, and short films. Passionate about fashion and literature, and a fan of classic films from the 1980s and 1990s, she embarked on a series of trips around the world (Lebanon, USA, Morocco…) to photograph the women and men of these territories. The artist returned with a series of photographic portraits. She is currently preparing her first photo exhibition in two cities: Paris and Casablanca. She currently lives in Paris.
Zahoua has great admiration for Moroccan singers and dancers, the “Chikhates”. She undertook research and conducted interviews with them in 2019. From these stories and encounters, her desire to write the story of Fatine was born. Her artistic collaboration with Ayoub Layoussifi was born out of the love story they share in real life. Since March 2020, they have been co-writing the screenplay for “Chikha” with Yamina ZAROU.
AYOUB LAYOUSSIFI
Born in Casablanca, Morocco, in 1983, Ayoub Layoussifi is an actor, writer and director. On his arrival in France in 2002, and after passing through classes préparatoires and an M1 in Computer
Science, he trained at the Actors Studio in Paris and obtained a Master Professionnel at the Université Paris VIII à Saint-Denis in Directing and Creation in 2010. From documentary to fiction, he worked between France and Morocco. In 2012, he wrote and directed an intimate portrait of Mohamed Lamouri, a musician who plays in the Parisian subway. The documentary Dis-moi Mohammed… received several awards. In 2017, he directed Tikitat-ASoulima, co-written with screenwriter Hadrien KRASKER, a short fiction film that received a financial contribution from the French Cinema Center. After its World Premiere at the 2017 Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, the film had forty official selections and some fifteen awards worldwide, including Best Short Film in Africa at the African Movie Academy Awards 2018, the film joined the “Nuits en Or 2019” selection made by the French Académie des César. Since 2012, Ayoub has also
been an educational and artistic facilitator (cinema and theater) with middle-school students in the Paris region. In 2019, he joined the teaching team as a lecturer at the Institut International de l’Image et du
Son (3IS) – supervising the writing of fiction and the shooting of 3rd-year Narrative.

Synopsis (Français)
Fatine, une jeune fille de 17 ans, vit avec sa mère, Nadia – qui est une chikha – à Azemmour, au Maroc. Elle vient de passer son baccalauréat et se retrouve déchirée entre deux chemins opposés : s’engager dans la tradition artistique de sa famille ou mener une vie plus prudente avec son petit ami, qui méprise son héritage culturel.
Biographie des réalisateurs (Français)
Zahoua Raji
Née à Bruxelles en 1980 de parents marocains immigrés, Zahoua a grandi dans une famille nombreuse. Elle a fréquenté des écoles catholiques et reçu une éducation très stricte. Pour se distinguer et trouver sa place, elle s’est réfugiée derrière une caméra. Elle a intégré la Royal Academy of Fine Arts à Bruxelles en 2000, affinant son regard et développant son style.
Pendant cinq ans, elle a travaillé comme chef maquilleuse et costumière pour des séries télévisées marocaines, des longs et courts métrages. Passionnée de mode et de littérature, et admiratrice du cinéma classique des années 1980 et 1990, elle a entrepris des voyages au Liban, aux États-Unis et au Maroc pour photographier les hommes et femmes de ces territoires. De ces voyages est née une série de portraits photographiques. Elle prépare actuellement sa première exposition photo à Paris et Casablanca et vit à Paris.
Zahoua admire profondément les chanteuses et danseuses marocaines, les Chikhates. En 2019, elle a mené des recherches et des interviews avec elles. De ces rencontres est née l’envie d’écrire l’histoire de Fatine. Sa collaboration artistique avec Ayoub Layoussifi découle de leur histoire d’amour personnelle. Depuis mars 2020, ils coécrivent le scénario de Chikha avec Yamina Zarou.
Ayoub Layoussifi
Né à Casablanca, Maroc, en 1983, Ayoub Layoussifi est acteur, scénariste et réalisateur. Arrivé en France en 2002, après des classes préparatoires et un M1 en informatique, il s’est formé à l’Actors Studio de Paris et a obtenu un Master Professionnel en Réalisation et Création à l’Université Paris VIII Saint-Denis en 2010.
De documentaire à fiction, il a travaillé entre la France et le Maroc. En 2012, il a écrit et réalisé un portrait intime de Mohamed Lamouri, musicien jouant dans le métro parisien. Le documentaire Dis-moi Mohamed… a reçu plusieurs prix. En 2017, il a réalisé Tikitat-ASoulima, coécrit avec Hadrien Krasker, un court métrage de fiction bénéficiant du soutien du Centre du Cinéma français. Après sa première mondiale au Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival 2017, le film a été sélectionné dans quarante festivals officiels et a remporté une quinzaine de prix, dont le Meilleur Court Métrage en Afrique aux African Movie Academy Awards 2018. Le film a ensuite été sélectionné pour les Nuits en Or 2019 par l’Académie des César.
Depuis 2012, Ayoub est également formateur artistique et éducatif (cinéma et théâtre) auprès de collégiens en région parisienne. En 2019, il a rejoint l’Institut International de l’Image et du Son (3IS) en tant que chargé de cours, supervisant l’écriture de fictions et le tournage de projets de 3e année.

زهوا راجي
وُلدت في بروكسل عام 1980 لوالدين مغربيين مهاجرين، ونشأت في عائلة كبيرة. التحقت بالمدارس الكاثوليكية وتلقت تربية صارمة جدًا. للتميّز وإيجاد مكانها، لجأت زهوا إلى الكاميرا. انضمت إلى الأكاديمية الملكية للفنون الجميلة في بروكسل عام 2000، حيث صقلت نظرها وطورّت أسلوبها
عملت لمدة خمس سنوات كرئيسة لمكياج وتصميم أزياء في مسلسلات تلفزيونية مغربية، أفلام طويلة وأفلام قصيرة. شغفها بالموضة والأدب وحبها للأفلام الكلاسيكية من الثمانينات والتسعينات قادها لرحلات حول العالم (لبنان، الولايات المتحدة، المغرب) لتصوير نساء ورجال تلك المناطق. من هذه الرحلات وُلدت سلسلة من الصور الفوتوغرافية، وتستعد حاليًا لأول معرض صور لها في باريس والدار البيضاء، وتقيم حاليًا في باريس
تحترم زهوا المغنيات والراقصات المغربيات، الشikhates. في 2019، قامت ببحوث ومقابلات معهن، ومن هذه اللقاءات وُلدت رغبتها في كتابة قصة فاتين. تعاونها الفني مع أيوب لايوسيفي نشأ من قصة حبهما في الحياة الواقعية. منذ مارس 2020، يكتبان معًا سيناريو شيخة مع يامينة زرو
أيوب لايوسيفي
وُلد في الدار البيضاء، المغرب، عام 1983، وهو ممثل وكاتب ومخرج. وصل إلى فرنسا عام 2002، وبعد المرور بالتحضيري وماستر 1 في علوم الحاسوب، تدرب في Actors Studio بباريس وحصل على ماستر مهني في الإخراج والإبداع في جامعة باريس الثامنة سان-ديني عام 2010
عمل بين فرنسا والمغرب في الوثائقي والخيال. في 2012، كتب وأخرج بورتريه حميم لمحمد العموري، موسيقي في مترو باريس. حصل فيلمه الوثائقي قل لي محمد… على عدة جوائز. في 2017، أخرج تيكيتات-أسوليمة، فيلم قصير خيالي شارك في كتابته هادريان كراسكر، وحصل على دعم مالي من المركز الفرنسي للسينما. بعد عرضه العالمي الأول في مهرجان كليرمون-فيران 2017، شارك في 40 مهرجانًا رسميًا وحصد حوالي 15 جائزة، بما في ذلك أفضل فيلم قصير في أفريقيا ضمن جوائز الأكاديمية الأفريقية للأفلام 2018، ثم اختير لفيلم ليالي الذهب 2019 من قبل أكاديمية السزار
