Carmela Callea est la directrice de l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Rabat (Institut italien de culture à Rabat), où elle incarne le pont culturel entre l’Italie et le Maroc.
Sous sa direction, l’Institut organise une série d’initiatives marquantes : expositions d’art, cycles de cinéma italien, cours de langue, collaborations littéraires et musicales. Parmi elles, on note l’exposition « DIVA! Italian Glamour in Fashion Jewellery » au Musée national de la Parure à Rabat.
Lors de la Foire internationale de l’édition et du livre (SIEL) à Rabat, Carmela Callea a souligné l’importance d’un dialogue culturel franc entre les deux pays et du rôle de la langue comme vecteur de compréhension mutuelle.
Elle a également animé l’engagement de l’Institut auprès des jeunes Marocains apprenant la langue italienne, s’associant à l’Pasquale Salzano (Ambassadeur d’Italie au Maroc) pour marquer la clôture des cours d’italien.
Son approche vise à faire de la culture un espace d’innovation : elle intègre des dispositifs immersifs, des technologies numériques et des formes artistiques diverses pour renouveler l’expérience de l’art et de la langue italienne au Maroc.

Carmela Callea is the Director of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Rabat (Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat), where she serves as a cultural bridge between Italy and Morocco.
Under her leadership, the Institute organizes a range of significant initiatives: art exhibitions, Italian cinema cycles, language courses, and literary and musical collaborations. Notably, it hosted the exhibition “DIVA! Italian Glamour in Fashion Jewellery” at the National Museum of Jewellery in Rabat.
At the Rabat International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), Carmela Callea emphasized the importance of open cultural dialogue between the two countries and the role of language as a medium for mutual understanding. She also highlighted the Institute’s engagement with young Moroccans learning Italian, collaborating with Pasquale Salzano (Italian Ambassador to Morocco) for the closing ceremony of the Italian courses.
Her approach aims to make culture a space for innovation: she integrates immersive experiences, digital technologies, and diverse artistic forms to renew the experience of Italian art and language in Morocco.
